Overview
In Tennis Europe events, the Official and Scorekeeper roles serve different purposes within IONSport. Understanding the distinction between these roles ensures that tournament staff are assigned the appropriate responsibilities during match play.
Official (Chair Official)
An Official in IONSport represents a Chair Official assigned to a specific match.
Responsibilities include:
- Being assigned to a single match.
- Managing scoring for that match from start to finish.
- Entering points and updating the score throughout play.
Officials remain assigned to their designated court or match for its duration.
Scorekeeper
A Scorekeeper is responsible for managing scoring across multiple matches during the tournament.
Unlike an Official, a Scorekeeper is not assigned to a single court or match. Instead, they may move between courts and perform game-by-game scoring for multiple matches throughout the event.
Within IONSport, a roaming official should be assigned the Scorekeeper role so they can oversee and update scores across several matches as needed.

Assign an Official when an individual will serve as the Chair Official for a specific match.
